The much anticipated matchup between a pair of 15-2 teams in the 2nd round of the KLAA playoffs ended up becoming a one-sided show Thursday night at Waterford Kettering High School. 

Howell defeated Waterford Kettering, 41-26, proving once again that they are one of the best teams in the state. 

From the opening tip-off, The Highlanders came ready to play on the defensive side of the ball. Howell held Kettering scoreless in the opening quarter. 

Howell maintained its level of play in the 2nd taking a 23-9 lead into the half.

Howell dominated much of the 2nd half. They led by a score of 36-18 entering the fourth quarter.  

Behind the dynamic duo of Alexis Miller and Leah Weslock, Howell was able to executed efficiently on the offensive side of the ball for much of the final half. 

Weslock led all scorers with 18 points while Miller added 12. Miller completed a double-double by grabbing 10 rebounds. 

The Highlanders stretched their lead to as much as 41-20 before Kettering scored the final 6 points of the contest. 

Howell played all 12 players in the game, allowing their starters to rest for much of the 4th quarter. 

Two of the top teams in the state will once again square off in the KLAA Lakes Conference Championship game this Monday. Howell looks to avenge their 5 point loss to Hartland back on February 7th. 

The defending Lakes Conference champions, Howell (16-2) will travel to Hartland (17-1) to defend their title on Monday. Tip-off is set for 7pm.

In 2016, we had the best record our program has had in 20 years. We won our Division, our Conference, and our Association titles. We also won the District title. While 2015-2016 was a great year, we are looking for even better things in 16-17!
